Guides · Selling more than hours
What can you sell besides your time?
Five things: a file people download, a group session, a course on set dates, a monthly retainer, and a file that renews each month. You already know how to make every one of them. They’re what you do now, in a shape that doesn’t need you in the room each time.
Five options. You need one to start.
- 1
A file
A workbook, a template, a checklist, bought once and kept. It reaches the people who can’t afford you yet and helps the clients you have between sessions. Write it once; update it when it’s wrong.
- 2
A group session
One hour, several seats. It suits work where somebody else’s question is the one you hadn’t thought to ask: a pricing clinic, a practice session, a review. Same hour for you. Shared price for them.
- 3
A course on set dates
The same group, a few dates, one seat for all of them. It suits anything with a beginning and an end. Fixed dates do something a library of videos never does: they give people a reason to start now.
- 4
A monthly retainer
Time held for one client every month, renewed on their card. The clients who keep coming back stop being a booking you hope for and start being income you can plan around.
- 5
A file that renews
A report, a pack or a plan sent every month to the people who subscribe. The hardest to keep up. The steadiest once it’s going: every renewal sends the latest version.
Pick the one clients already ask you for. How do you turn your expertise into a downloadable product? starts there.
