Leaving Gumroad: what comes across and what stays behind
Gumroad sells a file well and handles sales tax for you, for 10% plus 50¢ a sale. WorkWith costs $29 a month and 0.75% a sale, and sells your sessions beside your files on one page. Past about 7 sales of $40 a month, it costs less. The tax is then yours to handle.

One $40 file, both ways
Card rates are US rates for a standard card. Gumroad’s fee here is for sales through your own link; Discover sales are 30% including processing.
What comes across
- Each product, as a file delivered the moment it’s paid for.
- Pay what you want, with the lowest price you set.
- Memberships, as a monthly offering a client can pause. New members join here; people already paying stay on Gumroad until they leave.
- Your customers, which we add by hand as clients. They aren’t on your notes list until they say yes here.
What stays behind
- Discover, and the buyers it sends.
- Sales tax and VAT handled for you. Here you collect and pay them yourself, or with an accountant.
- Affiliates and discount codes.
- License keys, and buyers’ Gumroad Library.
- Active memberships and installments, which stay with Gumroad until they end.
Stay on Gumroad if
- Most of your sales come through Discover.
- You sell to many countries and want sales tax and VAT handled for you.
- You sell software with license keys.
- Affiliates sell for you.
Moving, without a dead link
