The month before a price rise
You’re booked a month ahead and you haven’t raised your price in a year. Four steps over a month: decide, tell the clients you have, hold the line, and change the page on the day you said.
That’s a rise of 11%.
Week one
Decide the number, and the date
Work the new price out from what you need to take home, not from how brave you feel. Pick the date it starts, a month or more from the day you tell anybody.
Week one
Tell existing clients, one at a time
A short message with the new price, the date and nothing to apologize for. What they’ve already booked or paid for stays as it is.
Hi Sam, From December 1, a session with me will be $200, up from $180. Anything you’ve already booked or paid for stays at the price you paid, and anything you book before then is at $180. The link to book is below. Thanks for working with me, Maya
Weeks two to four
Hold the line
Somebody will ask to keep the old price. Answer once, kindly, and keep to it. A price that bends for whoever asks isn’t a price.
Hi Sam, I understand. The new price is $200 from December 1, for everyone. Until then, anything you book is at $180. Maya
On the date
Change the price on your page
For everybody at once, on the day you said. New clients meet the new number from then on, and the clients you told have had a month to book ahead.
Work the new number out with What to charge for an hour, and read the last part of How should you price your services? for when it’s time.
The new price is one edit
On WorkWith, the price on an offering’s row on Link is the price on your page, and what clients have already paid for stays as it was.
