Guides · Agreements and policies
How do you get a client to read the agreement?
Make it short, put the sentence they’ll care about first, and ask them to accept it before they pay. One page in plain words gets read. Twelve pages of clauses get scrolled past, and the client finds out what they agreed to when it’s too late to matter.
- Step 1
Cut it to a page.
If a clause has never mattered in your work, take it out. What’s left is what clients need to know.
- Step 2
Lead with cancellation.
It’s the rule that touches every client. Put it first, in one sentence, where it can also sit under your offerings.
- Step 3
Write it in your own voice.
“I” and “you”, not “the Provider” and “the Client”. It’s a conversation about how you work.
- Step 4
Ask for acceptance before payment.
Accepting is part of booking, not an email afterward. A client who accepts before paying has read it at the one moment they’re paying attention.
- Step 5
Keep a record of what they accepted.
The words, the time and their name. If you change the agreement, the old version still stands for the clients who accepted it.
On WorkWith, the line under your offerings says “You can move or cancel at no charge up to 24 hours before your session.” or your own words, and the client types their name to accept the full agreement at booking, before paying.
