What is a fair cancellation policy?
Free to move or cancel up to 24 hours before for most sessions, 48 hours for therapy, and a deposit for anything tied to a date that can’t be resold. Inside the window the session is charged. It’s fair when it’s agreed before booking and you apply it the same way to everyone.
| Kind of work | A common window | Inside the window |
|---|---|---|
| Coaching and consulting sessions | 24 hours | Charged in full |
| Therapy and practice | 48 hours | Charged in full, with a concession at your discretion |
| Tutoring and lessons | 24 hours | Charged, or moved once |
| A wedding, an event, a fixed date | A deposit, not a window | The deposit is kept; the rest depends on how close |
| A course on set dates | 24 hours before the first date | Dates already started aren’t refunded |
Why the window has to come first
A policy a client sees after booking is a surprise. A policy they accept before booking is an agreement. The difference matters the day you ask them to pay for a session they didn’t come to.
Your side of it
A fair policy says what happens when you cancel too. A new time or the money back, the client’s choice, is the usual answer, and it costs you little to offer.
Exceptions, without exceptions
Illness and emergencies happen. You can waive the charge whenever you like. The policy says what you’re entitled to, not what you have to take.
On WorkWith, a client moves or cancels from their own page up to your window, and is refunded by itself. Closer than that, they ask you, and you decide from Today whether to refund or keep the fee.
