How do you grow a list without ads?
Ask the people who already meet you. A sign-up on your page, a box clients can tick when they book, and a line at the end of every note asking readers to forward it. Each one adds the right people, slowly. A list of two hundred who asked is worth more than two thousand who didn’t.
- 1
A sign-up on your page
For visitors who aren’t ready to book. Somebody who signs up today may book in six months.
- 2
A box at booking
Unticked, so ticking it means something. Most clients who like the work will tick it.
- 3
A line at the end of every note
“If somebody you know would find this useful, send it on.” Forwards bring the people most like your readers.
- 4
A useful file
A checklist or a short workbook at a low price, so the people who want it meet your work before they book it.
- 5
Talks and workshops
Speak once to a room of the right people, and tell them where your notes are.
What not to do
Buy a list, add people from your contacts without asking, or hide the sign-up behind a pop-up. Each one gets you addresses and loses you readers, and the first two break the rules on marketing email in most places.
On WorkWith, somebody signing up at /notes on your page confirms from an email before anything is sent, and a client ticks an unticked box at booking or on their own page.
