Guides · Selling more than hours
How many people should a cohort have?
Small enough that everybody speaks, every time. For a discussion, six to ten. For a workshop where people mostly practice, up to twelve with one teacher. For a talk with questions at the end, as many as you like, but then it isn’t a cohort, it’s an audience.
| Format | Seats | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A discussion | 6 to 10 | Everybody speaks in a 90-minute session |
| A workshop | Up to 12 | You can see every person’s work |
| A clinic | 6 to 8 | Each person brings one question and gets it answered |
| A talk | No limit | It’s an audience, priced as one |
Plan for one missing
Somebody misses most weeks. Set the seats so the group still works one person down.
On WorkWith, a course on set dates shows how many seats are left, and says so when every seat is taken.
