How much time should you leave between sessions?
Enough to write notes and reset. The WorkWith setups start with 10 minutes for therapy, 15 for consulting, 30 for coaching and none for project work. If you’re still writing notes when the next client arrives, add ten minutes.
| Kind of work | Gap after a session | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Therapy and practice | 10 minutes | Sessions run 50 minutes on the hour, so the gap is the rest of it |
| Consulting | 15 minutes | Long enough to write the actions down while they’re fresh |
| Coaching | 30 minutes | Notes, a glass of water and a clear head for the next person |
| Design and creative projects | None | Work happens between meetings, not straight after them |
Three signs it’s too short
- Your notes for the morning get written at night.
- A session that runs over makes the next one start late.
- You haven’t eaten lunch by three.
A longer gap means fewer sessions in a day. It also means every client gets you at your best, which is what they’re paying for.
