Should you discount for a client who asks?
No, but you can change what they get. A smaller scope at the same rate keeps the price true and gives them something they can afford. “I can’t do it for less, but I can do the first part for that” is a better answer than a discount, and it’s still a yes.
What to say
- “My rate stays the same, but I could do just the strategy session, without the follow-up.”
- “The package is six sessions. Three would fit your budget, at the single-session price.”
- “If budget is the issue, the concessionary rate is there for exactly that.”
Why not just knock some off
A discount for the client who asks is a higher price for the one who doesn’t. And the client who got it will tell a friend the price they paid.
