Guides · Being found and remembered
Should you use your own domain?
Use one if your practice has a name people search for or type from memory, or if you already own one. Wait if you’re starting out under your own name. An address like yourname.workwith.page works on day one. A domain can be pointed at the same page later, and old links keep working.
When it matters
- The practice has a name that isn’t yours, and people search for it.
- You already own the domain and it’s on your cards and old emails.
- You want your email address and your page on the same name.
When it doesn’t
When clients find you by your own name, from a link somebody sent them. Nobody types the address of a link they clicked.
What it takes
A domain costs a small yearly fee from a registrar. Pointing it at your page means pasting a couple of rows into your registrar’s DNS settings, once. Using your own domain has the steps.
