Guides · Getting paid

When does the money from a client reach your bank?

Stripe pays a card payment out to your bank on its own schedule, usually about two business days after the client pays. The first payout on a new account takes a few days longer. Standard payouts cost nothing.

The client’s card is charged when they book or pay the invoice. The money waits with Stripe for a short time, then goes out to the bank account you gave Stripe when you connected.

The first one is slower

On a new account, Stripe holds the first payout a few days longer while it checks the account. After that, payouts settle into a steady rhythm you can plan around.

Pay yourself

Money shows what’s waiting. Tap Pay yourself and the whole available balance goes to your bank as a standard payout.

If Stripe asks for one more document, payouts pause until it has it, and clients can still pay you in the meantime. Today shows Stripe’s question with a button that goes straight to it. Getting paid has the detail.
