How to ask a client to read your agreement
Two lines, before the first session: the one rule that matters most, and where the rest is. “The one thing to know is that sessions moved inside 24 hours are charged. Everything else is in the agreement you accepted, here.” Point at one sentence, and they’ll read it.
When to send it: In the days before the first session.
The message
Subject: Before Thursday
Hi Sam, Looking forward to Thursday. One rule in our agreement: sessions moved or canceled inside 24 hours are charged. The rest is in the agreement you accepted, at the link below. Maya
Why it works
- One rule gets read. A request to read twelve clauses doesn’t.
- It arrives before anything has gone wrong, so it isn’t a warning.
What not to say
- “Please read the attached terms carefully.” Nobody does.
