For ghostwriters
A book takes six months, and the client wants their name on it and yours nowhere. Take a share when they sign, bill the writing month by month, and put the confidentiality in the agreement they accept.
A book is months, not a project
A share when they sign
Set what’s due at booking on the book, and the author pays that part before the first interview. The rest goes out from Today when you reach the point you agreed.
The writing billed monthly
For long books, a monthly arrangement holds your interview time each month and renews on the author’s card until the manuscript is done.
Your page on the first day
This is the design or creative setup, and it’s what your page starts with. Change any of it where it appears.
- Clients can book from tomorrow onward.
- Moving or canceling is free up to 24 hours before.
- Before booking, your page asks: “What are we making, and by when?”
Your project agreement opens with this: Half of the project price is due up front and half on delivery. The scope is what we agreed in writing; new work is a new agreement.
Questions ghostwriters ask
How do ghostwriters charge for a book?
By the project, paid in stages: a share at signing, more at milestones such as the draft, and the rest on delivery. Monthly billing suits books that take most of a year.
Does a ghostwriter get credit?
Only if the agreement says so. Most work uncredited, and the agreement should say whether you may mention the book privately to future clients.
What should a ghostwriting agreement cover?
Confidentiality, who owns the words, the schedule of interviews and drafts, what happens if the author stops responding, and how either side ends it.
What gets in the way
A book priced as one project means waiting half a year for most of the money.
Interviews get canceled when the author is busy, and the deadline doesn’t move with them.
Your best work can’t go in your portfolio, so every new client starts from trust.
What it doesn’t do for you
There’s no shared manuscript, no interview recording and no transcription. Write in your own tools; the page holds the agreement and the money.
