For illustrators

Commissions pay well and arrive unevenly. Take a share before the first sketch, sell brushes or templates as files beside your commissions, and let the files earn in the months between.

Commissions are lumpy

A client asks for one more round of changes after the final, and nobody agreed how many rounds there were.

Commissions arrive three at once and then not at all for a month.

Usage rights get decided after the art is delivered, when you have the least room to ask.

Questions illustrators ask

How much deposit should an illustrator take?

Half is common for a commission. Take it before the first sketch, so the time you set aside is paid for whatever happens next.

How many revisions should an illustration include?

Two rounds on the sketch and one on the final is a common start. Write it down, and price each extra round.

How do illustrators charge for usage rights?

By where and how long the art is used: a book cover, an ad campaign and a personal print are different prices. Agree on it before you start.

  • Clients can book from tomorrow onward.
  • Moving or canceling is free up to 24 hours before.
  • Before booking, your page asks: “What are we making, and by when?”

Your project agreement opens with this: Half of the project price is due up front and half on delivery. The scope is what we agreed in writing; new work is a new agreement.

What’s different for illustrators

A share before the first sketch

Set what’s due at booking on a commission, and the rest waits on Today until you deliver the final art.

Files that sell between commissions

Brushes, templates or a printable pack sit on your page as files, at a fixed price or pay what you want, and arrive the moment they’re paid for.

What it doesn’t do for you

There’s no portfolio gallery, no print-on-demand and no shop for physical goods. Files are downloads; prints ship from wherever you sell them now.
