For videographers
Shoot day is one day in a calendar full of other people’s dates. Hold it with a deposit, put the location on the booking, and price the edit as what it is: most of the work.
Questions videographers ask
How much deposit should a videographer take?
Enough to cover the date if it’s canceled, which for an event is often half. Take it at booking, and say in your agreement whether it comes back.
Should videographers hand over raw footage?
Only if it was sold. Say in your agreement that the price covers the edited film, and price raw footage separately for clients who ask.
How many rounds of revisions should a video edit include?
Two is common: one for the structure and one for polish. Anything after that is charged, and the agreement says how much.
What’s different for videographers
The date held when they book
Set what’s due at booking on the project, and the shoot date is paid for before you turn anyone else down. The rest goes out from Today once the edit is delivered.
A day rate for repeat clients
For agencies and clients you already know, your page offers a day of your time with its location, booked like any session.
What gets in the way
A client books the shoot day and assumes the edit takes the afternoon after.
An event date is gone the moment you say yes, and a cancellation three weeks out leaves it empty.
Requests for the raw footage arrive after delivery, as though it came with the price.
Your page on the first day
This is the design or creative setup, and it’s what your page starts with. Change any of it where it appears.
- Clients can book from tomorrow onward.
- Moving or canceling is free up to 24 hours before.
- Before booking, your page asks: “What are we making, and by when?”
Your project agreement opens with this: Half of the project price is due up front and half on delivery. The scope is what we agreed in writing; new work is a new agreement.
What it doesn’t do for you
There’s no review tool for cuts and no shot lists. Deliver the film the way you do now, from wherever you edit or store it.
