For makeup artists
A wedding is a trial in spring and a five o’clock start in summer. Sell the trial as its own session, hold the date with a share when it’s booked, and put the venue on the day.
The trial, the date and the dawn start
A bride books the date in January, and the trial happens in May.
The bridal party grows from three faces to seven the week before.
Wedding morning starts at five, at a venue an hour away.
What’s different for makeup artists
The trial and the day, separately
Sell the trial as a session at your studio and the wedding day as its own offering with what’s due at booking, so the date is held and the trial is paid for.
The venue on the day
The wedding-day offering carries the address you’re going to, and your booking question asks how many faces.
Questions makeup artists ask
Should a makeup artist charge for a bridal trial?
Yes. A trial is your time and your products, and charging for it means it’s booked by brides who are deciding, not browsing.
How much deposit should a makeup artist take for a wedding?
Enough to cover losing the date, often a third to a half. Take it at booking and say in your agreement when the rest is due.
Do makeup artists charge for travel?
Usually, past a set distance. Put the rule in your agreement and the line under the offering, so it’s known before booking.
Your page on the first day
This is the design or creative setup, and it’s what your page starts with. Change any of it where it appears.
- Clients can book from tomorrow onward.
- Moving or canceling is free up to 24 hours before.
- Before booking, your page asks: “What are we making, and by when?”
Your project agreement opens with this: Half of the project price is due up front and half on delivery. The scope is what we agreed in writing; new work is a new agreement.
What it doesn’t do for you
There’s no product shop, no face charts and no team scheduling for assistants. You’ll book assistants the way you do now.
