For chess coaches
Your students play tournaments on weekends and study on weeknights. Let them move a lesson themselves when a tournament runs late, sell lessons in blocks, and let a parent book for a young player.
What parents and players ask
How much should a chess coach charge?
More as your rating and results go up, and more for strong players than beginners. Work out what you need to take home per hour, then check what players at your level charge.
How often should a chess student have lessons?
Weekly, with study between. A lesson that reviews the student’s own games teaches more than one that teaches openings.
Can chess lessons be taught online?
Yes, and most are. Share a board on the platform you both play on, and talk over video.
What’s different for chess coaches
Moves without asking
Outside your cancellation window, a student moves a lesson from their own page, and the hour they leave goes back on yours.
A parent books for a young player
A parent can buy a block of lessons as a gift for their child, who gets their own page to book from.
Your page on the first day
This is the something else setup, and it’s what your page starts with. Change any of it where it appears.
- Clients can book from tomorrow onward.
- Moving or canceling is free up to 24 hours before.
- There are 15 minutes clear after every session.
Your working agreement opens with this: Reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before at no charge; inside 24 hours the session is charged in full.
What gets in the way
A tournament runs long and a Sunday lesson needs moving, by text, at ten at night.
Weekly lessons are what make a player improve, and weekly is what slips first.
Parents of young players and adult improvers want completely different things from an hour.
What it doesn’t do for you
There’s no game database, no puzzle trainer and no shared board. Teach on the chess site you already use.
