For art therapists

Your sessions need paper, paint and a room set up before anyone arrives. Price the materials into each session, run small groups with a set number of places, and keep the lower rate on the page.

What your page has from the start

This is the therapy or practice setup, and it’s what your page starts with. Change any of it where it appears.

What’s different for art therapists

Materials in the price

Say in the session’s line that materials are included, so the price covers the paper and the paint as well as the hour.

Small groups with places

A group session holds the number you set, often six or eight, and comes off your page once it’s full.

What gets in the way

Materials cost money, and a late cancellation means paint already put out.

Groups work best small, and a booking tool that sells the twelfth place ruins them.

Many clients come through a referral and pay privately, and the price conversation is awkward.

Questions art therapists ask

Do I need to be good at art for art therapy?

No. Art therapy is about expressing what’s hard to say, not about making something good. No experience is needed.

Is art therapy done one to one or in groups?

Both. One to one for private work, and small groups for people who benefit from making alongside others.

What should an art therapy agreement say about the artwork?

Who keeps it, how long you store it, and that it stays confidential like anything else said in the session.

What it doesn’t do for you

There are no clinical notes, no image storage for artwork and no insurance billing. The page books and takes payment for self-pay sessions.

We don’t sign a business associate agreement. If you work inside a clinic or a health plan that needs one, keep that work where it is now.
